RentMyDrums is built on trust between drummers. Here's how we protect every rental — for renters and kit owners alike.

Verified accounts

Every member signs up with a verified email and confirms their identity before they can list a kit or accept a booking. Kit owners can require additional ID verification on high-value rentals.

Secure payments

All payments run through a PCI-compliant payment processor. RentMyDrums never sees or stores your card details. When a booking is requested, your card is authorized for the rental, the 2% platform fee, and any optional deposit — funds are only captured after the kit owner accepts.

Refundable deposits

Kit owners can require an optional security deposit. Deposits are held on the renter's card and released in full after the owner confirms the kit was returned in good condition. Any deductions for damage are itemized and renters are notified before funds are withheld.

Cancellation protection

  • 24+ hours before start: renters cancel free of charge.
  • Less than 24 hours: a 50% no-show fee protects owners who blocked off their kit.
  • If the owner declines a request, the full authorization is released — renters are never charged.

Damage & dispute resolution

If a kit is returned damaged, the owner files a deposit claim with timestamped photos. RentMyDrums reviews disputes and works with both parties to reach a fair resolution. Renters and owners are encouraged to take their own pickup-and-return photos.

In-platform messaging

Always communicate, agree on logistics, and exchange handoff details through RentMyDrums messages. This gives us a record if we ever need to step in. Never wire money or pay outside the platform — off-platform payments aren't covered by our protections.

Safe handoffs

  • Meet in well-lit public places when possible — venue load-in, a rehearsal space, or a music shop.
  • Inspect the kit together and capture a short condition video at pickup and return.
  • Optional: book a Verified Tech to deliver, tune, and stage-position the kit for you.

Community standards

RentMyDrums is a community of working drummers. Harassment, discrimination, fraud, and abuse of the platform are not tolerated and may result in suspension or removal. Be honest about your kit's condition, show up on time, and treat fellow drummers the way you'd want to be treated.

If something doesn't feel right — a suspicious listing, off-platform payment request, safety issue, or dispute — email support@rentmydrums.com or use the Ask Us chat in the corner of any page. We respond to safety reports first.

Insurance

RentMyDrums does not provide instrument insurance. We strongly recommend kit owners carry their own gear insurance. The deposit and dispute system exist as a backstop, not a replacement for proper coverage.
